Check if President, er former-President, Obama is in town. If so, avoid this area as it gets, basically, shut down for security reasons (he's from here).

Rent kayaks from Kailua and paddle to Mokes (islands)

Walk Waimea falls (there’s a fee to get in, but you can swim at the base of the falls, I’d only go once, but tourists talk about it)
