Option Day B - Windward Coast Adventure

Check if President, er former-President, Obama is in town. If so, avoid this area as it gets, basically, shut down for security reasons (he's from here).

  • Early morning:

    • Drive to Lanikai

    • Hike Pillbox (1.5 hours max)

  • Late Morning:

    • Rent kayaks from Kailua and paddle to Mokes (islands)

  • Afternoon:

    • Beach - both Kailua and Lanikai are easy access by car, and MOST spectacular. Don't miss.

    • Picnic

    • Snorkel

    • Swim

      • At Kailua beach it is 600m to little flat island, so 1.2km round trip.

Option Day C - More Windward Coast Adventure
  • Morning:

    • Drive to Makapuu point

    • Hike 1.5 hrs

  • Afternoon:

    • Beach and picnic at Makapuu / lighthouse beach

      • The water can be big here, so use caution or make alternate plans

  • Later afternoon:

    • Kahala resort – high end resort.

      • Dolphins

      • Pool

      • Happy hour

      • Stand up paddle board

    • Haleiwa - shopping, art, crafts, shave ice

  • Afternoon:

    • Pipeline beaches

    • Snorkel: Sharks cove (low-impact, safe harbour)

    • Walk Waimea falls (there’s a fee to get in, but you can swim at the base of the falls, I’d only go once, but tourists talk about it)

    • Turtle bay resort/surfing

    • Friends of Malekahana beach/surf/boogie board – LOVE

  • Evening:

    • Dinner at a shrimp truck along side the road
